Thanksgiving Service at Carmel Mar Thoam Center, AtlantaDate : 17-10-2019

Dearly Beloved in Christ,

I praise and thank God for the blessings we have received in the past years in the growth of Mar Thoma Church in North America. I appreciate every member of the Mar Thoma Church in the Diocese for investing your time, talent and resources in equipping the Diocese to move forward with its Vision and Mission.

The Diocesan Assembly of the Diocese of North America and Europe, met on July 4th & 5th, 2018 at Houston had decided to purchase the Mount Carmel Christian Church property for the expansion of the diocesan activities. This center was named as the ‘Carmel Mar Thoma Center, Atlanta’ by The Metropolitan Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma during the 32nd Family Conference at Houston.

The closing of the purchase deed of the Mount Carmel Christian Church property at 6015 Old Stone Mountain Rd, Stone Mountain, GA 30087 was executed on September 24th, 2018 and the Dedication and Inauguration was held on Saturday, December 29th, 2018.

By the Grace of God and by the prayers and support of our members through donations and personal loans, we could make the final payment to the Mount Carmel Church on June 28, 2019 and thus clearing the total payment of 5.9 million dollars.

As a mark of gratitude to God Almighty for the manifold blessings we had received through the process of purchasing this facility, a Thanksgiving Service was held on July 3, 2019 at the Carmel Mar Thoma Center, Atlanta on St. Thomas Day which also marks the completion of one year after taking the decision to purchase the Carmel Property during the Assembly held on July 3, 5, 2018 at Houston.

It was a time to praise God for the ways through which God Almighty led the diocese with His Grace and Providence and to once again affirm our faith and proclaim that “Nothing is Impossible with God”.

After the Thanksgiving Service, we had a meeting with the Elders of Mount Carmel Christian Church to record our appreciation and gratitude for all the support we had received from them. As a token of appreciation mementoes were presented to the Elders of the Church. This was followed by a fellowship lunch.

I appreciate all those who have generously contributed for this cause and seek your continued prayers and contribution especially in clearing the personal loan from our members at the earliest. I express my special appreciation for the participation of members of the Mar Thoma Church, Atlanta in completing this dream project.

Let us praise God for all the blessings that we have received and pray for God’s guidance and mercies in the days to come.  Hope you will uphold the new mission initiatives of the Diocese in your prayers and will do your best by participating in all the programs.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos
