Silver Jubilee Grand Finale Report
The Silver Jubilee grand finale of St. John’s Mar Thoma Church, New York was held on 05th December 2015. It was the concluding ceremony of the one-year long silver jubilee program inaugurated on December 06, 2014. Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa, Diocesan Bishop, was the chief guest of the program. The program started with a procession and members from organizations, choir, clergies, parish committee, and jubilee committee members and dignitaries were participated. After the procession reached the sanctuary the choir presented the opening song and Mr. Ipe Abraham led the opening prayer. Mr. Thomas M. George, Vice-president read the bible portion. Rev. Issac P Kurien extended the warm welcome to the guests and others who have gathered. Rev. Binoy J Thomas, Rev. Dr. Philip Varghese, Rev. Shibu Mathew, Rev. Jacob John, Rev. Shibi Abraham, Rev. Shinoi Joseph Rev. Dennis Abraham and Rev. Samuel Oommen CSI, were present. As a mark of inaugurating the finale program the dignitaries lit the lamp.
Parish Choir presented the Jubilee Song. The chief guest Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, the Diocesan Episcopa delivered the presidential address and challenged the parish to reach out the strangers who are near to us. The parish English choir wing presented a song and Mr. C V Simonkutty, General Convener presented the Silver Jubilee report. Rev. Binoy J Thomas, Diocesan Secretary, Rev, Dr. Philip Varghese, Diocesan Office Administrator, Rev. Samuel Ommen. CSI Seaford Church and St. Thomas Ecumenical Federation Secretary, Mr. Barry S Grodenchick, Councilman of New York State District 23 and Rev. Dennis Abraham, first clergy from the parish extended felicitations.
The members were honored by giving mementos and ponnada under different categories. Top scores of SAT, ACT examinations from our Sunday school and Valedictorian award winner from the parish were honored. The Silver Jubilee Souvenir was released by Tirumeni by giving the first copy to Rev. Shibi Abraham and parish secretary extended thanks and gratitude.
The choir presented the closing hymn and Rev. Shibi Abraham led the closing prayer. The meeting concluded with the benediction by Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa, the Diocesan Episcopa.
PARISH DAY CELEBRATION AND FAREWELL PROGRAM REPORT
The 26th Parish Day of the St. John’s Mar Thoma Church was held on 06th December 2015. The Holy Communion service was held at 9.00am. The diocesan Episcopa Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa, was the celebrant and Rev. Binoy J Thomas and Rev. Dr. Philip Varghese and Vicar Rev. Issac P Kurien were assisted the service. First communion service was conducted during the Holy communion service and 26 children have taken first communion service.
His Lordship has lifted them to the full membership of the Mar Thoma church. After the service the parish day and farewell program started with a prayer by Mr. K Idichandy. Rev. Issac P Kurien welcomed the distinguished guests. Mr. Beji T Joseph, Parish Secretary presented the parish report. Mr. Justin Joy have delivered a speech representing the first communion students. Mr. Calvin Thomas presented gift to His Lordship Mar Theodosius representing the first communicants. The Diocesan Bishop awarded certificates and greeting card from diocese to the first communion participants. Rev. Binoy J Thomas, Diocesan Secretary extended greetings to the parish. In the farewell meeting Mr. E V Philip and Mr. Eapen K George extended felicitations. Mr. Philip Thomas and Mr. Sanu Mathew, the trustees presented the farewell gift to Tirumeni. Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa, the Diocesan Episcopa gave the reply speech and blessed the parish to be the light of the world. Mr. Thomas M George, Vice President extended the gratitude to the dignitaries. The meeting concluded with a closing prayer and benediction by Tirumeni. The families of the first communicants have arranged lunch for the members and guests.
The Mar Thoma Church in the North American and European continent represents the dreams and aspirations of the faithful members of the Church.
